Malta: My Journey Achieving Through Different Paths
On the 23 November 2016 the Ministry for Education and Employment in Malta launched new secondary education reforms. The reforms are titled My Journey: Achieving through different paths. In line with the UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Goal number 4, the reformswill replace the current secondary school model and 'will see the educational sector move from a 'one size fits all' system to a more inclusive and 'comprehensive learning system'which 'equitably support all'children's individual talents'and needs through quality academic, vocational and applied learning programmes. Alongside their compulsory core subjects'(including Maltese, English, Mathematics, Science, and IT)', secondary school students 'will have the option to select from 'relevant and quality academic, applied and vocational subjects in a personalized and inclusive learning environment 'under the same roof'. 'Parity of esteem will be guaranteed 'among all different learning programmes enabling students to achieve 'up to 'Malt'a'Qualification's'Framework Level 3'(which is equivalent to the European Qualifications Framework Level 3)'as they 'sit for different forms of learning and assessments.
This major reform in the secondary school system will be implemented from the scholastic year beginning in 2019. Further information is available from www.myjourney.edu.mt.
