The Ministry of education announces the National teacher prize

19 March 2018
Country news

On the same day of the award of the 'Global Teacher Prize', the Ministry of Education has announced the launch of a national teacher prize. The Ministry has underlined the importance of teachers' mission in building up a better society and the opportunity offered by international and national prizes to spotlight teachers' role.

The competition will start in spring 2016 and will link to the principles of the recent reform called 'The good school', i.e. innovation, evaluation, merit and continuing professional development.

Teachers will present their candidatures under proposal of colleagues, students and families. An independent commission will evaluate candidates and will award five winners who will receive a budget (50.000 € to the first and 30.000 € to the other four) to be exclusively used for projects in their own schools. The five winners will also directly participate in the Global Teacher Prize 2017.
