Support Measures for Learners in Adult Education and Training

Learners in Adult Education Training programmes are provided with some guidance and counselling. The level and detail of the guidance and counselling provided varies from institution to institution. Solas provides high quality training programmes to jobseekers and other learners. The Department of Social Protection provides guidance through the INTREO service to those jobseekers and  other unemployed groups.

Definition of the Target Group(s)

Adults attending further education and training programmes do so at various levels of the qualifications framework. Adults attend literacy and numeracy programmes to develop their basic skills. Adults attend further education programmes to upskill and/or attain further qualifications to enhance their job seeking opportunities. Others may attend programmes to support access and progression routes to higher education. Target groups for those adults is the Back to Education Ininitiative (BTEI) eligible list.

Specific Support Measures

BTEI programmes are available part time providing opportunities for certification. There are also agreements with the Department of Social Protection for the continuance of  some social welfare allowances with attending some programmes.
