Higher technical education and training system (IFTS)
To each IFTS specialisation, correspond minimum national standard of competences organised in competences common to all specialisations and in technical-professional competences specific of each specialisation. The acquisition of such competences is required to achieve the final certification.
Common competences include languages, science and technology, law and economics, organisation, communication and relations.
IFTS courses last 2 semesters, for a total of 800/1000 hours, and lead to a higher technical specialisation certificate.

Often, distance learning is used.
Regional post-diploma/post-qualification courses
Teaching methods vary and may go from traditional class teaching to simulations, role plays, collaborative learning, etc. In particular, active teaching methods are recommended, in order to facilitate earning processes and meeting learners’ needs to acquire cultural and technical/professional competences through practice. Stages are mandatory, due to the job-oriented nature of these courses. Stages are organised in collaboration with enterprises that previously adhere to a specific stage project and agree to receive learners. Also distance learning is widespread.
Usually trainers are expected to prepare teaching materials or to provide reference books. Textbooks specific for this kind of courses are not available.
