Teaching staff in the provision offered by education authorities
In general, the organisation and incentives for the participation in continuing professional development activities are the same as those generally established for teachers who provide a similar education at other levels of the education system.
Both the continuing professional development provided by the Autonomous Communities and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP) and the postgraduate training provided by universities include courses and specialisations specifically focused on adult education.
On the other hand, previous training is organised at regional or local level for teachers that impart distance education and who join the network of public institutions for the first time. The Centre for the Innovation and Development of Distance Education (CIDEAD) is responsible for planning and managing this training. At local level, there are specific training courses aimed at teachers providing secondary education for adults.
Teaching staff in the provision offered by employment authorities
State Public Employment Service (SEPE) establishes, on an annual basis, a plan for the professional development and technical-pedagogical updating of trainers, with the following characteristics:
when the actions are aimed at trainers in two or more Autonomous Communities, the training is provided through the National Reference Institutions network;
if the training is specifically aimed at trainers of one Autonomous Community, it is managed at regional level.
