Since March 2010, the Minister of Education has entrusted the Autonomous University in the DG with the organisation and implementation of further education and training of teaching staff on the basis of the training programme defined annually by the Commission for Further Education.

The Pedagogical Commission for Continuing Education defines the main areas of continuing education in dialogue with the players in the education sector. This commission is made up of representatives of the Centre for Developmental Pedagogy, the SME training and further education, external evaluation, the Department of Pedagogy, the Autonomous University in the DG and school representatives from the various networks.

The training programme, which is drafted annually by the Training Commission, is aimed at teaching and educational staff of primary and secondary schools, institutes of further education, part-time art classes, SME training and further education, employees working in the field of education and SME training and staff of PMS centres.

The tasks of the Autonomous University in the field of continuing education include

  • the planning, organisation and evaluation of the continuing education events;
  • advising teachers on continuing education issues;
  • the professional counselling in the field of in-school continuing education;
  • the cooperation with national and international partners.
