Education in BiH is organized and conducted mainly in public educational institutions, but it is also organized in private ones, mostly in higher education.

Private institution may be established by domestic and foreign individuals and legal persons, in accordance with the principles defined by the Framework Law and other conditions and criteria established in the area of education.

In 184 private preschool institutions, at the beginning of the school year 2020/2021, 9.806 children were enrolled of which 81with disabilities.

In a 2020/2021 school year 2.330 children are attended private primary schools.

Private secondary schools atend 4.602 pupils in school 2020/2021.

According to the Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance, in the area of higher education in the academic year 2020/21 there are 28 accredited private higher education institutions were registered in BiH.
