European, Global and Intercultural Dimension in Curriculum Development
Agency for Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education is responsible for the development of the common core, including the principles, objectives, learning outcomes and desirable approaches and methods in the educational process of mutual interest of students in the framework curricula. The learning outcomes based common core curricula for natural sciences and Learning outcomes based common core curricula for social sciences and humanities. The following documents have been made: Guidelines for the implementation of the Common Core curricula with emphasis on evaluation and assessment, in order to review the existing curricula, aligning them with the learning outcomes based common core curricula and Guidelines for the continuing professional development of teachers, educators and professional associates.
The Pedagogical Institute of the Republic of Srpska drafted and presented modernized edition of the Curriculum for primary education and upbringing, which will be applied in the 2014/15 school year. The curricula for vocational and technical education have also been updated, as well as the curricula for general education - gymnasium - modernized curricula for I, II, III and IV grade of high school all directions.
Furthermore, Pestalozzi Programme Training is being continually implemented, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Council of Europe, it contributes to strengthening human capacity of teachers in primary and secondary schools and other professionals in the field of education.
Partnerships and Networks
BiH is included in the regional initiative - South East European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (SEECEL), with the mission of promoting the development of the system of lifelong entrepreneurial learning as one of eight key competences. Eight countries have jointly agreed on cooperation in the field of entrepreneurship in order to strengthen growth, employability and competitiveness. In the previous period (2009-2013) regional activities were focused on the integration of key competencies at ISCED level 2 (upper primary school and higher education level 5/6).
The second phase of the project within the IPA Multi-Beneficiary (2013-2016) will be orientated to the pilot activities at the level of ISCED 1/2 (lower and upper primary school) and ISCED 3 (secondary school). The next phase will involve eight primary schools, four secondary schools and four pedagogical faculties that educate teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2001, Bosnia and Herzegovina joined the Enlarged Partial Agreement that established the ECML Centre - European Centre for Modern Languages. The main task of the ECML is to support the development and innovation in language learning and to facilitate language learning to people across Europe. The strategic objectives of the ECML are to assist Member States in implementing effective policies in language learning by focusing on the practice of teaching and learning languages, through: promotion of dialogue and exchange of experiences, training multipliers, supporting programming networks and research projects.
In 2003, BiH joined the Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe (ERI SEE), a regional platform for cooperation in the field of education and training. This platform provides support government reforms in education and training through regional capacity-building, transfer of know-how and linking their efforts with the European framework for the development of education.
Agency for preschool, primary and secondary education in the framework of the Erasmus + program established portal e-Twinning, which is designed for international cooperation and professional development of the teaching and non-teaching staff of educational institutions all over Europe.
Also, APOSO included in EPAL platform aimed at improving the quality and ways of providing services of adult learning in Europe, the establishment of a strong pan-European sector of adult learning and to allow experts and multipliers in adult education to reach out to all adults.
The purpose of the e-platform EPAL that adult students are the ultimate beneficiaries of development in the field of adult learning, whether in formal or extra-academic environment. However, this is a platform for those who provide and organize adult education, rather than the students themselves.
