Last update: 12 June 2022

Pupil/students assessment

Both formative and summative evaluation is carried out for each subject of the curriculum of each specialization offered at the Post-Secondary Institutes of Technical and Vocational Education (ΜΙΕΕΚ) in Cyprus. Written and practical / laboratory examinations (summative evaluation) are internally set by the institutions at the end of each semester. Formative/continuous evaluation is also carried out by the teachers throughout the school year. At the end of the year, the students receive a report on their results. Progression to the next grade is dependent on this report.

Progression of pupils/students

Progression of students to the next grade is achieved upon success on written and practical / laboratory examinations carried out at the end of each semester.

Certification

The Ministry of Education and Culture awards the qualification of ‘Higher Technician’ to the graduates of the ΜΙΕΕΚ. The holders of the qualification are eligible to enroll in higher education institutions, as well as to state universities provided that they pass their entrance examinations.
