The professional/pedagogical school support service as part of non-teaching staff of kindergartens and primary and secondary schools helps in the improvement of the educational work of the school. The law registers the following professions as part of the school support service: pedagogue, psychologist, sociologist, defectologist and librarian (also laboratory technician in the secondary education). Kindergartens employ other staff responsible for performing the jobs of nursing, social and health care.
The professional-pedagogical support service team in preschool facilities and in primary and secondary schools is part of the management team. For this purpose, the team members are required to possess adequate competencies that will enable successful performance of their work for education development and improvement. On the other hand, this requires their involvement in the preparation of development plans, programmes and plans for realisation of activities, as well as permanent monitoring of developments, and contribution to the modernisation of the education process.
