European, Global and Intercultural Dimension in Curriculum Development
The providers themselves are responsible for most education programmes in adult education and training. The European, global and intercultural dimension is therefore taken into account to varying extent in the educational measures (e.g. as part of citizenship education).
Partnerships and Networks
Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships
With Key Action 2 of the Erasmus+ programme, adult education establishments can enter Strategic Partnerships with other organisations, including from other educational areas. Two types of Strategic Partnership are available:
- “Projects for the exchange of good practice” focus on the exchange of specific topics, methods, tools, etc. with other countries.
- In “projects to promote innovation”, however, entirely new materials (e.g. curricula, handbooks or method manuals, etc.) are developed.
The Austrian Europe Houses
The seven Austrian Europe Houses (ÖFEH) are non-partisan educational institutions which are oriented towards European policies and contribute to European integration by carrying out information and educational activities. Their objectives include teaching more profound knowledge of the European Union and its Member States as well as the importance of the political unification of Europe. This also comprises raising awareness of the opportunities and challenges arising when the European Union opens up an economic and social area.
The awareness of a European identity and the illustration of its foundations such as democracy, human rights, social justice, and the foundations of European culture are strengthened. The goal is that the individuals participate in the economic and social development and specific progress of the European Union.
