European, Global and Intercultural Dimension in Curriculum Development

Central government stipulates the framework within which the institutions operate but the administration of each institution is ultimately responsible for developing courses within this framework. The choices made with regard to the syllabus and examinations are set out in the teaching and examination regulations.   Europe and the European Union are not compulsory subjects in adult education. However, depending on the course, they may be included as themes, while institutions are expected to deal with the international dimension of each subject area.

Partnerships and Networks

Erasmus+

In relation to adult education, Key Action 2 of the Erasmus+ programme focuses on small and large-scale international strategic partnerships within the education, training and youth sectors geared to developing, sharing and implementing innovative approaches at organisational, local, regional, national and/or European level.

The aim is:

  • to innovate and to improve the quality of education (e.g. course books, curriculum, ICT tools);
  • to strengthen cooperation between actors in the education sector, the government and the business community;
  • to share knowledge and good practices in the field of education;
  • to recognise and validate learning outcomes.

Target group Organisations active in educating and training or those in line with this, such as local, regional or national authorities, validating institutions, chambers of commerce, trade and industry and non-profit institutions.
