There are various institutions offering further education courses that are not tertiary institutions with courses ranging from language courses at all levels, to IT-courses, art and crafts, including professionally oriented courses or training courses for professional specialisation or for the acquisition of leadership competencies.
Admission requirements depend on the type of further education. Structure of courses and training courses, time commitment, type of evidence of achievement etc. vary greatly according to the chosen type of education. The same is true for the various types of final certificates. The providers present their own, not state recognised certificates or course confirmations. Many institutions of adult education obtain eduQua qualifications for reasons of quality control or the positioning in the adult education market.
Adult education institutions in Liechtenstein do not qualify for state recognised certificates or diplomas. There is, however, in cooperation with Switzerland a booklet of certificates, the education passport, where attended courses can be displayed and signed by the course instructor.
For an in-depth report on validation systems in Liechtenstein please see the country reports in the European inventory on validation of non-formal and informal learning (CEDEFOP).
