Education in general and – in connection with this matter – continuing education play a major role in a country without raw materials, but with a relatively strong service sector and important industry. There is a clear need for a well trained labour force. Within the framework of the Education Strategy 2025+ the government specifies the sectors of education, innovation and sciences to be important location factors that must be cultivated with respect to a healthy economic development.
In the last years the number of probable educational programmes has considerably increased and further developed along with raised professional expectations and according to the educational policy of „no qualification without association“. Transition between various paths of education has increased, too. According to this tendency there is an increase in the prospect of lifelong continuing training.
Besides financing individual institutions and programmes the state supports continuing professional development through grants and loans.
