Pupil mobility
Especially with increasing level of education, mobility is very important for Liechtenstein. Nevertheless agreements with schools in neighboring countries (among others special schools, private schools), mainly in Switzerland and Austria, exist already on primary or secondary level whereby an expanded educational opportunity, particularly in the area of special education, is ensured. In 1995, Liechtenstein joined the Regional School Agreement EDK-Ost at (RSA), which regulates amongst others the access and financial support of the cantons for training at secondary level. Due to a special agreement with the canton of St. Gallen pupils residing in Liechtenstein have access to the vocational school at the Kantonsschule Sargans and the Kantonsschule Sargans itself. Liechtenstein participates in the European mobility programmes for students. The AIBA (Agency for International Educational Affairs) is responsible for the supervision of European mobility and education programmes. Aha Liechtenstein regulates the implementation of the EU youth programmes. The agency offers counselling, provides documentation regarding youth exchanges and mobility and organises internships abroad in cooperation with the project Moja.
Mobility of teachers
Teachers and trainee teachers have the opportunity to participate in exchange projects through European programmes. At primary and especially secondary level language assistants with international backgrounds support the regular teachers in their language teaching.
Furthermore, language courses (home country and abroad) for teachers in terms of training or sabbaticals are supported. As there are no national programmes dealing with such further trainings they need to be organised by the teacher himself.
