Last update: 27 June 2022

The Copenhagen Process is a European Union (EU) strategy to improve the attractiveness of vocational and professional education and training. This process aims to guarantee, at national and international level, permeability, transparency and mobility in general education and in vocational and professional education and training. This promotes mobility within and outside national borders.

Leonardo da Vinci – the European programme for vocational education and training enables VET institutions and organisations to organise mobility and cooperation projects, and thus work together with partners from across Europe. The programme supports the development of mobility in the vocational further and continuing education of employees and individuals. The programme also supports stronger networking and more intensive cooperation between vocational colleges, associations, companies, union and employer representatives, and other vocational education and training institutions in Europe, and greater transparency and recognition of qualifications and skills.

Grundtvig – the European programme for adult education supports people and institutions in the field of adult education, specifically with regard to in-service training internationally within Europe and projects between partner organisations from different European countries. Grundtvig mobility projects are aimed at organisations and institutions active in adult education. They can apply for one or two-year projects. In this period, the people involved can take part in any number of mobility activities in other European countries, for example courses, seminars, in-service training, or teaching assignments. Grundtvig cooperation projects support organisations and institutions in realising projects in adult education with European partners. The primary focus is on the development of new and innovative practices and products in the field of education, and on sharing know-how and experience. Two types of cooperation project are supported: partnerships and central actions.
