13.3Mobility in adult education and training

Learner Mobility

The Grundtvig sectoral programme is the main source of funding for adult learners' mobility abroad.

The main types of mobility are:

  • Cultural exchange - focus on intercultural communication and language learning;
  • Workshops - focus on development of life skills.

The responsibility for the mobility is shared between the hosting and sending organizations.

In most cases the recognition is in the form of a certificate for attendance.

Teacher Mobility

The Grundtvig sectoral programme is the main source of funding for adult trainers' mobility.

The main types of mobility are:

  • Long term placement - focused on 13-week assistantships at an adult education institution abroad;
  • Intensive training in adult education - focused on the development of teaching skills lasting between 5 working days and 6 weeks;
  • Exchange - focused on sharing good practices with colleagues across Europe.

The responsibility for the mobility is shared between the hosting and sending organisations.

Recognition is at the discretion of the head of the sending education institution.
