2021

SmartKindergarten Programme for creches

In the framework of the Digital Wellbeing Programme, 100 institutions will have the opportunity to develop an own website after applying for a grant. The institution can develop the website tailormade for its needs with the help of a free web design and consulting service opportunity. In addition, one employee of the institution may participate in a free course about designing and operating a web site. This year is the first when creches may apply at this tender.

COVID-19 testing of staff members in kindergarden and schools

Kindergarden and school staff members had the opportunity to ask for free COVID-19 rapid testing in November 2020 and in January 2021 due to a government decision. 20 744 employees took it in January 2021.

The „Green Kindergarden” Programme is 15 years old

The Ministry for Agriculture and Ministry for Human Capacities – on the basis of national and international experience- promotes the green education of kindergarden children which is tailor made for that age and is experience- and task-based, The “Green Kindergarden” Network in Hungary has become 15 years old this year; the number of member institutions endorsing green education and awareness raising of children in the topic is about 1000 including the successful newcomer applicants.

Additional kindergartens of ethnic minorities

Additional kindergartens of ethnic minorities may be established following the rules set in Act of Ethnic Minorities and in the Core Programme of kindergarten education in order to foster the language and culture of ethnic minorities.

Kindergarten enrolment

From the year 2020 onwards, the institutional registration/enrollment of the kindergarten age group is registered in the central register of the Educational Authority. This is followed by that the territorial administration bodies and the families receive personalized feedback on the status of registration and the necessity of enrollment.

2019

Stricter rules for exemption from compulsory education

The amendment to the Act on National Public Education (2011. CXC) reinforces the importance of cohesion in kindergarten, but also aims to reduce disparities between new entrants at the first level of public education. Thereby it tightens the possibility of being exempted from compulsory kindergarten (from age 4) and school (from age 6) attendance this way it reinforces participation in institutionalized education.
