This chapter describes education and conditions of service of teachers and trainers for different levels of education in Luxembourg.

School education: Pre-primary, primary and secondary school teachers are generally civil servants. Their conditions of service and recruitment procedure are set by the legislation.

Higher education: Academic staff members are private employees of the University of Luxembourg, which has a certain freedom regarding recruitment and working contracts. However, the University's law sets out minimum requirements for certain academic careers.

Adult education: Profiles of teachers and trainers in adult education are more or less heterogeneous.
