These are the main approaches to quality assurance in ECEC, school education, higher education and in adult education and training.
Quality Assurance in Early Childhood and School Education
- Internal quality assurance performed by the ECEC/ education institution
- External quality assurance performed by the municipalities or by the National Agency for Quality and Supervision
- External quality assurance performed by the Danish Evaluation Institute (EVA)

Quality Assurance in Higher Education
- Internal quality assurance performed by the educational institution
- External quality assurance performed by the Accreditation Institution
- External quality assurance performed by the Accreditation Council

Quality Assurance in Adult Education and Training
- Internal quality assurance performed by the educational institution
- External quality assurance performed by the Accreditation Institution
- External quality assurance performed by the Danish Evaluation Institute (EVA)

Regulations in quality assurance
Internal evaluations are mandatory at all educational levels. The regulation and requirements for internal evaluations and quality assurance vary according to educational level. Generally, ECEC is more regulated than other educational levels.
