Organisational aspects

There is no statutory obligation or explicit rights for academic staff to participate in continuing professional development (CPD) activities defined in top-level documents.

CPD activities are optional and not required for promotion or salary progression. Although, the completion of CPD activities might be an advantage.

The educational institutions typically have their own courses of shorter or longer duration for their academic staff within different subject areas. These courses are often research based part-time courses allowing the staff to work concurrently.

Academic staff also participate in various seminars and conferences around the world to build on their academic skills and knowledge.

Incentives for participation in continuing professional development (CPD) activities

There are no statutory benefits or incentives for academic staff to undertake CPD.
