10.3Education staff responsible for guidance in early childhood and school education

Education staff responsible for guidance are school psychologists and pedagogues. In order to be employed as a school psychologist or pedagogue, a person has to have a university degree in one of these fields (either Bachelor or Master’s degree), acquired at least 30 ECTS in subjects on psychology, pedagogy and teaching methods and at least 6 ECTS of practice work in an educational institution, and the work licence (implies professional exam passed). Also, all other general conditions for school staff employment enlisted in Management Staff for Early Childhood and School Education section have to be met. 

Work assignments and programme of work for psychologists and pedagogues are determined by the Bylaw on the Education Specialists’ Programme of Work. All conditions of service, requirements for appointment, dismissal rules, professional status and other are same as for teachers. For further information see Teachers and Education Staff topic.
